Former Luton Town player, and former manager - Barcelona & Real Madrid
Dear Luton Borough Council,
Although I now live in Spain, I wish to give my support to the Power Court - Application 16/01400 and Newlands Park - Application 16/01401.
I played for Luton Town in the 1980s, scoring a goal against Manchester City to keep us in what was Division One, I know my good friend David Pleat really enjoyed it! Even though I am one of only two men to have ever managed both Barcelona and Real Madrid my time playing for Luton at Kenilworth Road was a period I loved.
But even in the 80s you could see the stadium was old. Sometimes my grandchildren go to Kenilworth Road to see the team now, the club and Luton mean a lot to me and my family. The importance of clubs like Luton to the people in the surrounding area is huge, and it is something I think reflects in Luton Town fans. A new stadium for the Hatters and new areas for shopping and places to eat at both sites would be fantastic for the town.
Luton Town needs a new home and for that reason I say you need to let it happen. The people of Luton deserve this, the club deserve it.
I wish I had opportunity to play at Power Court when I was a player, because the drawings and plans look amazing but Ill be sure to visit as a supporter if it happens.
