Dear Luton Borough Council,
As a proud Lutonian who has experienced playing in some of the worlds finest stadia on tour with the England cricket team, I can honestly say that the plans Ive seen for Luton Town Football Clubs proposed new stadium at Power Court are mind-blowing.
Ive looked at the pictures, read all the information and seen the models in the Eric Morecambe Lounge at Kenilworth Road. I love to visit the old place and the atmosphere was red-hot when I came to the game against Leeds recently, but my home town needs a lift and from what I can see, this could change the fortunes of the area and the football club forever. Im fed up of hearing people talk Luton down.
If we can create this focal point for the whole community well see kids wanting to get back out on the pitches around here, aspiring to represent the town in one of the best grounds in the country. When I was young we had Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal all the big clubs visiting the Town on a regular basis. This could launch LTFC back into the big time.
As a local resident I would use the shops and cinema planned for Newlands Park, thered be jobs created for my family and friends in the area and what a gateway to the town it would provide when people drive off the motorway.
Wherever I go in the world as a cricketer, people always want to talk about football. These developments would really put Luton on the map and then theyll know who Im talking about when I fill them in on the Hatters!
