Chief Executive, Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce
On behalf of the businesses in Luton I would like to add our support for the proposed developments at both Power Court and Newlands Park. These developments offer a tremendous boost for the town. I have seen the illustrations and they are quite magnificent. Also as you might expect I have thoroughly digested an economic impact report carried out by an independent body. Both schemes are expected to create around 10,000 new jobs in the town plus £250m per year will be added to the Luton economy. These figures are surely highly significant when considering the proposals.
This town has been old and tired for so long and now It's our chance to lose the crap town' title where these developments will surely redefine Luton's image once and for all.
I do hope that you will see the really positive reasons why this should be allowed to go ahead and not find some unpalatable reasons to decline. Businesses and the public alike want to see our town transformed and this proposal can go a long way to achieve that ambition.
I will be happy to speak with you and/or your colleagues in person to discuss further if you wish.
